#MeetMeOnTheLawn Changes Seasons

Alas, it’s nearly time to close the lawn. You have only one more week to enjoy Manhattan’s largest expanse of greensward south of Central Park, because on Thursday, October 2, we begin removing it to make way for Bank of America Winter Village.

We actually begin the process on October 1, when we remove sprinkler heads and fill in the resulting holes. The lawn will be open that day, but for pure, unadulterated lawn bliss, visit the park on Monday, September 30.

We've had a fantastic 2014 season on the lawn.
The transition at the lawn area will be quick, because this year’s Bank of America Winter Village opens on Tuesday, October 21. Once again, Winter Village will include The Rink, The Holiday Shops, and Celsius, the rink-side bar and restaurant. The Holiday Shops will operate daily through January 4, giving go-getters and hopeless procrastinators plenty of time to shop. The Rink and Celsius remain until March 1, making this the longest season ever for Bryant Park’s winter attraction.

And fans of Bryant Park Reading Room, your favorite outdoor library will soon close for the season as well. The last day for the Reading Room is Sunday, October 5. We’re going to keep Reading Room events going through the fall and winter; they’ll move to Le Carrousel or to a nearby indoor location. Keep checking our calendar for information on upcoming events.

This is an excerpt from Bryant Park's weekly newsletter, MidCity Newswritten by Terry Benoit. MidCity News keeps park enthusiasts informed about our events, milestones, operations, and all of the detailed maintenance work that goes into caring for the park. Weekly updates are sent with our sister organization 34th Street Partnership
