Southwest Porch Hosts Grand Ole Opry's "New Music in New York" Concert Series

Parkgoers last night heard the rockin' sounds of live country music floating over the lawn. The music, emanating from the Southwest Porch, was country star Tyler Farr's release celebration in honor of his new album, entitled "Redneck Crazy." The Southwest Porch's intimate environment and easy Adirondack chairs made the perfect setting for a laid-back country concert.

This concert was part of the Grand Ole Opry's "Nashville's New Music in New York" concert series, produced in partnership with Southwest Airlines and Nash 94.7, New York City's only country radio station. The music series celebrates the Grand Ole Opry's 88th birthday and Country Music Month.

Any country music fan will recognize the Opry's iconic mic stand, which
traveled all the way from Nashville, Tennessee, for the concert series.
If you are a country music fan, but missed the Tyler Farr performance, there are two more concerts left in the series. On Thursday, October 3, duo Love and Theft will take the stage, and The Voice season 3 winner Cassadee Pope will round out the series on Monday, October 7.

Concertgoers get "Redneck Crazy" with Tyler Farr.
The concerts are free and on a first-come, first-served basis for the first 150 people to arrive. Anyone who arrives after the Porch reaches capacity can still hear the performers and enjoy up-close views from the perimeter of the Porch. Don't forget, you can also enter to win a trip to Nashville including accommodations, airfare, and backstage passes on the Opry's website or live at the Porch during a concert.

  1. The Grand Ole Opry is set to celebrate its 88th birthday on Oct. 4 & 5 with three weekend Opry shows in which country favorites will share the stage with the Opry’s birthday cake, plus a concert by Opry member Steve Wariner, backstage tours, free music in the Opry Plaza, and more.
