Shop the Season: Friction Jewelry

Find out which Holiday Shop catches guest blogger Sarah's eye, each time that she goes into the park.

The most popular shop by far with female Bryant Park visitors seems to be this cute jewelry boutique. Friction Jewelry is always crowded, and even I can’t resist going in to gawk at the shiny baubles every time I walk by.

The shop is elegantly decorated with picture frame wall paper and chandeliers, and a fun wall, where they feature Polaroids of their favorite clients called “friends of Friction Jewelry”. You can find jewelry designed by Friction Jewelry, as well as pieces designed by other designers.

My favorite piece of jewelry there changes every time I go in, the first time it was the fun snowflake pedant, the next time it was the classy initial necklaces. This time I was drawn to the gold-dipped leafs. Did you know that all of the leaf pendants are made with real leafs? They are first boiled down to their skeletal vein structure for that lacy effect, and then dipped in 24k gold, sterling, copper or gun metal.

The initial/name necklaces are customizable, you can pick your initials and add any other charms that may catch your fancy. The price for a classic necklace starts at $28.00, extra for your choice of beads, mini wishbones, hearts and rings.

Ah, a piece of jewelry from this Holiday Shop may very well be my Christmas present to myself… as soon as I make up my mind on a favorite!
