Dancing in Bryant Park, a perennial favorite of our Bryant Park lineup, is already over, proving that time flies when you're having fun. We have good news for those dance fans who just haven't had their fill: Talia Castro-Pozo, the electrifying dancer/producer behind the Bryant Park series, will be taking a six-week residence in our sister district on 34th Street. For each week of Dance34: Broadway on the Boulevard, Talia teams up with a different Broadway show to teach dance in the style of that show. When Talia's charisma combines with the razzle-dazzle of Broadway, you can bet the experience is unforgettable!
34th Street sat down with Talia to talk about her newest project.
|Talia's popular dance lessons are expanding south to 34th Street.|
34SP: What makes Broadway on the Boulevard different from other dance programs in NYC?
Talia: This is the first time that Broadway dancers will be teaching Broadway hit dances to a non professional crowd, for free, outdoors at the beautiful new Boulevard.
34SP: Which acts are you most excited to see translated to the Broadway Boulevard stage?
Talia: We expect to have a lot of fun with all the musicals since they are so upbeat: Celia, Kinky Boots, Mamma Mia, Mayumana, On Your Feet...Phantom of the Opera is gonna be the most interesting in my opinion, since this is such a classic, elegant musical, the longest running show on Broadway.
34SP: I know I’ll see Broadway dancers, but will there be Broadway music?
Talia: Yes! We will play all the favorites, so people can stay and dance after the class!
34SP: Is the program welcoming for beginners? For kids?
Talia: Absolutely! It's family entertainment at its finest.
We're thrilled to offer this brand-new program. If you like our Dance34 series, you should also check out our other programs at Broadway Boulevard: Juggle34, Hoop34, and Pop Up Yoga34.
