Food Trucks on Fifth: Neapolitan Express

Guest blogger and operations intern Alex reviewed Neapolitan Express, one of a rotating schedule of food trucks participating in our Food Trucks on Fifth program.

After checking out the NYPL Outdoor Reading Room on the Fifth Avenue Terrace, I grabbed some lunch just a few feet away at the Neapolitan Express food truck, one of Bryant Park’s Food Trucks on Fifth. Serving up some authentic Neapolitan pizza, Neapolitan Express offers a variety of delectable treats in an environmentally responsible way. Their menu includes salads and both classic and dessert-style pizzas, while satisfying both the vegetarian and the carnivore.

It isn’t very hard to find good pizza in NYC. You’ll have a more difficult time finding good pizza made without any GMO's and with organic and fresh ingredients. Neapolitan Express is the perfect answer to this problem.

The Bianca is lookin' good! From the Neapolitan Express website.
Having run out of their organic vegan Daiya cheese alternative, I decided to go for the first thing I saw on the menu: the Bianca. Within only a few minutes I had an eco-friendly box filled with an individual pizza in my hands. In the first bite I tasted each of the savory ingredients: the mozzarella, the parmigiano reggiano, the extra virgin olive oil, the garlic, and the oregano; and finished it off with a nice crunchy crust. Needless to say, I devoured the rest of the pizza within minutes.

The Neapolitan Express truck has large windows, so you can see the creation of your pizza from start to finish.

It was worth it to indulge in something so delicious and authentic-tasting, despite the consequences of having a dairy allergy. I’m using today’s lack of dairy-free cheese as an excuse to go back for some more.
