Guest Post: Parry and Riposte at Fencing Lessons

To celebrate the return of many Bryant Park summer programs, and to introduce our readers to our fantastic partners, we asked our partners to write guest blog posts. This post comes from Julia Geltman of the Manhattan Fencing Center

Fencing, known as physical chess, is a great way to challenge your body and mind. The goal is to outthink your opponent by observing and responding to his or her attacks and defense. Fencers develop good hand-eye coordination, balance, and quick reflexes.

Manhattan Fencing Center is the home to Olympians, World Medalists, NCAA Champions in addition to youth and recreational fencers.

Our very own Olympian Tim Morehouse and Four Time Olympic coach Yury Gelman can now be seen in the new commercials for Chase bank playing nationwide.

First timers should be prepared to have some serious fun and to break a sweat. Make sure you wear comfortable clothing, preferably sweats and sneakers. All necessary gear is provided so stop by and challenge yourself or your friend to a duel!

Fencers face off during the April 17, 2015.
