Happy Hour at Celsius Snow Leopard Lounge

If it's good enough for Jay-Z and Beyoncé, it's good enough for me.

This week a small group from Bryant Park gathered in the Snow Leopard Lounge at Celsius for drinks and appetizers. Just a little post-work happy hour among co-workers, an age old tradition that all professionals should participate in. Call it a bonding experience.

I digress. We all arrived bundled and more than ready to escape the tundra-like winds blowing outside. Apparently we were not alone as the main bar area was full, along with the upstairs dining room and only a few spaces remained in the indoor-outdoor Snow Leopard Lounge, a space with chic grey and white couches and sofa chairs, low cocktail tables, and glowing heat lamps. In the rear of the room a raucous group of young professionals were blowing off steam, their table filled with cocktails and tasty bites. Every now and then a large burst of laughter would erupt from the corner contributing to the carefree atmosphere of the restaurant and bar.

Just above The Rink you can find outdoor seating under heat lamps or opt for the "indoor-outdoor" seating in the Snow Leopard Lounge just a few steps away
After careful deliberation we selected a few cocktails and two appetizers from the menu. Personally, I prefer bubbles, mostly because they make every occasion more festive. To quench this thirst I chose the Winter Fizz made with prosecco, Stoli vodka, fresh lemon juice, and Pama. Sweet and tart! I have to say though, it was a tough choice between that and the Pineapple Thyme; a Stoli vodka drink with muddled pineapple (yes, please!), fresh lemon juice, sweet thyme syrup, and sparkling water. It's nice to pretend you are somewhere tropical when it's 20 degrees outside.

The spread
Other drinks ordered were the Polar Bear Cosmo, your typical cosmo with an atypical addition of lychee and Absolut peach, and the Applecider from the Heart Warmers cocktail menu. This soul soothing concoction is made from Redstag Hardcore cider, spiced apple cider and fresh lemon juice. Wait, I think there is a theme here. Maybe January brings on a serious hankering for lemons, or am I just grasping at citrus?

The Hardcore Cider, good for heart and the soul
As for the appetizers, we kept it simple. One order of baked spinach-artichoke dip that arrives in a sizzling hot cast-iron pan with crisps and sesame sticks. This app is always a fan favorite, seriously what is not to love? You have the ooey-gooey goodness of the dip, fantastic flavor from the artichoke, and some Popeye protein and nutrients from the spinach. Is this even up for debate? For our second snack we ordered the Mediterranean mezzo platter with falafel. The hummus is homemade, the falafel is crunchy, the pickled veggies are yummy and babganoush is the real deal.

Spinach-Artichoke dip that was everything and more
In the end, we were all left satisfied, so here's to you Celsius. Thank you for delivering yet another yummy meal.

Oh, and I had the Captain Lawrence IPA because I love beer. Go beer, or go home.
