Shop the Season: When Cravings Attack

Amanda from the executive office shares how she satisfies her food cravings at Bank of America Winter Village Holiday Shops

I, for one, am always in need of a mid-day snack, but my cravings range from a pint of ice cream to a heaping bowl of chili and everywhere in between. Here are my top three snack choices (of the sweet, salty and savory varieties) available at the Holiday Shops at Bank of America Winter Village.

Apple cider donuts from Carpe Donut (kiosk A6) are always refreshing – flavorful without being too rich. I especially appreciate the heavy sugar granules that give the donut a bit of texture. Carpe uses organic and locally-sourced ingredients, and the donuts are consistently high-quality.

I love me some French Fries, but soft and squishy fries just won’t do. I opt for the hand-cut, twice-fried Belgian Fries served up by The Lucky Sailor (kiosk C9). They are perfectly seasoned with salt, cumin, paprika, garlic, onion, pepper, basil, parsley, oregano and rosemary to each customer’s specifications. Take the dish up a notch with dipping sauces like Lemon BBQ, which gives off a sweet yet tangy honey-mustard vibe.

These fries are incredible. I brought them back to share with my office mates and was lucky to grab just a handful--they were devoured within seconds.

As a Mid-Westerner, I never stray from a hearty dish made with cornmeal. The savory creations at TopArepa (kiosk F13) are no exception. My preferred arepa is made with a plain corn cake and layers of mozzarella cheese with grilled mushrooms, goat cheese, and an oozing fried egg on top. Mmmm.

Double points for carrying the San Pellegrino line of carbonated beverages.
