Shop the Season: Drink Smarter with Recycled Glass

Sara from the executive office notices something shiny as she strolls around the Bank of America Winter Village

On my daily stroll through Bryant Park, I noticed sparkly starbursts through the windows of Smart Glass (kiosk H1). Or I thought they were starbursts--it turns out they're an abstracted version of the NYC subway map printed on glass tumblers. Kathleen, the shop owner, told me that she moved to the city in January and became obsessed with the subway. When she secured a booth at Winter Village, she decided she needed a product that specifically spoke to the urban nature of the setting. I love the subtlety of the design; it might take your Thanksgiving guests a few glasses of wine to guess the pattern's origin.
The gorgeous tumblers will make anything you drink taste better.
Like her other offerings, the tumblers are made from wine bottles cast off by Las Vegas casinos. (What else has such a steady supply?) They're available in either Brooklyn or Manhattan versions; single glasses are $14.95, or mix-and-match a set of 4 for $54.95.

The shop also offers candles in wine-inspired scents, perfect for that chardonnay or pinot noir lover in your life. The candles are poured in -- you guessed it -- glass recycled from wine bottles.
