Knit Up A Storm With Knitting in Public Day and Bryant Park Knits

As the summer heats up, so does the NYC knitting scene. Join us tomorrow, June 14, for Worldwide Knitting in Public Day, and catch us every Tuesday for Bryant Park Knits.

Bryant Park Knits turns a solitary hobby into a social event.
This Saturday from 2:30 to 4:30pm, participate in Worldwide Knitting in Public Day. This celebration started in 2005 as a way to make the solitary act of knitting more social by bringing knitters together. The event has grown over the years and is truly worldwide, with 207 Worldwide Knitting in Public Day meetups in the United States alone and hundreds more from Australia to Venezuela. At our meetup on Saturday, the Big Apple Knitting Guild, NYC Crochet Guild, and The Harlem Needlearts will attend and offer free beginner lessons.

Come for the knitting, but stay for the community! Bryant Park Knits resumes on Tuesday, June 17. Yarn, instructors, and needles are provided; you'll learn the basics of looping and purling by making squares for blankets to be donated to charity. Our knitting program partner is Knitty City, a knitting store located on the Upper West Side. It is acknowledged as one of the city's premiere knitting shops, with an astounding inventory of supplies and yarns, and plenty of experts to help you untangle your knitting errors. If you want to read more about the store, check out this article from NYCityWoman.

Even Gertrude Stein is a knitting fan!
