Every Monday, starting May 12, join us for Pilates with Pilates on Fifth, a park neighbor. Studio owners Kimberly and Katherine Corp help you strengthen your core for better posture and lean muscle. The hourlong mat class, which is paced for an energetic workout for all age and skill levels, starts at 7:30am. Some mats will be provided, but bringing your own is encouraged.
Every Wednesday, starting May 14, The Rise NYC brings boot camp to Midtown. Workouts vary each week, and can involve circuit training, cardio, or the famous "deck of cards" drill, where each card's suit and number correspond to a different boot camp-style exercise (sit-ups, push-ups, and more). This community-driven, friendly boot camp uses smiles and high-fives for encouragement...no intimidation or in-your-face instructors here!
But won't I be sweaty? you might wonder. The answer is simple: both classes end early enough that you'd have time to cool down. Pilates concentrates on strength and flexibility, so you shouldn't get too sweaty; boot camp ends at 7:00am, which is plenty of time to shower at home or at your nearby gym.
Won't I be exhausted by noon? No! Morning exercise releases endorphins and revs your metabolism so that you'll be energized throughout the day. Other benefits of morning exercise include increased productivity, better sleep, and better eating choices. You'll feel ready to take on the world.
