Shop the Season: Pickles

Our resident pickle lover Stephen describes all of the pickles there are to eat at The Holiday Shops at Bank of America Winter Village.

The Shops feature a delectable treat for your taste buds. Pickle Me Pete’s pickle barrels are back with a wide variety of pickles to choose from. Pickle lovers cannot get enough of them. You'll find traditional pickles such as half sour, full sour, kosher dill, and bread and butter, as well as less traditional flavors such as Wasabi, horseradish, super spicy, ridiculously spicy, and fried! Pickle Me Pete also offers another pickled treat, which is an old time classic, green tomatoes. All the pickles are fresh, made right here in New York City, and he'll even deliver! Party platters are available which are excellent for tailgates, picnics, or just when you have a couple of friends over. Prices for these bad boys are as followed:

Quart Containers: $7
Small Pickles: 4 for $3
Large Pickles: $2 each
Pickle Chips: $3 a cup
Ridiculously Spicy Pickles: $3 each or $10 a quart
Fried Pickles: $6 per skewer

Proceed with caution if you choose the ridiculously spicy pickle. This pickle will leave your mouth scorched for approximately half an hour. Also wash your hands thoroughly! Spicy juice in your eyes or even on your skin in never a good idea, you will pay for it. After having this pickle last year I told myself I would never have it again. I lied, I had it again this year and relived the spicy nightmare.

The half sour pickles are my favorite. They have all the characteristics you’re looking for in a pickle. Sour but not too sour. They have an excellent crunch and are not soggy. I recommend picking up a quart of them because you cannot stop at just one.
