Accordions Around the World in Bryant Park

Accordionists will gather for Accordions Around the World in Bryant Park every Thursday evening from 5pm to 7pm from June 6 to August 29 to perform in a variety of genres, making for a most unusual summertime musical event in New York’s midtown oasis.

Like sculptures in a garden, six accordionists will be placed in nooks around the park, each creating a different international sound.  From French Musette to Cumbia, Jazz to Balkan, Bluegrass to Dominican, German to Classical, Colombian to Post Modern, Pop to Gypsy, Slavic to Broadway, Cajun to Ukrainian, Argentine to Waltz, so many different styles of music, tempo, and traditions fill the park.

Special events include 20 accordionists throughout the park from 5pm to 7pm, and an Accordion Jam and Dance Party from 7pm to 9pm at the Fountain Terrace on June 20 and July 18.  On August 15, the American Accordionists’ Association celebrates its 75th Anniversary with award-winning accordionists, a massed band of accordionists at 7pm playing “New York, New York”, and an accordion jam session open to all from 9pm to 10pm.
