Ode to Narcissus

New York City is famous for its yellow taxi cabs. However, come March, NYC's taxis have to share the spotlight. Just when we've had about enough of winter, the sun shines stronger and the daffodils bloom with a burst of yellow, heralding spring.

How apt that the plant name for daffodils is Narcissus. In Greek mythology, the character Narcissus is known for his profound and overwhelming beauty. (Of course he was so enamored with his own beauty that he got himself into trouble, and ended up inspiring the term narcissism.) Self obsession aside, the daffodils are truly beautiful - the perfect treat for Spring.
