It’s hard to resist the antics of a wildly-gesticulating monkey. A monkey puppet, that is. I’m a stoic New Yorker, unmoved by the usual comedy (or drama) of my daily subway commute, but Karen of Silly Puppets cracked me up with her waving, hooting and bouncing monkey puppet ($35).
If you know a child that would rather give voice to a heroic firefighter (or better yet, a dog wearing a firefighting suit), Silly Puppets has something for him, too. In fact, the array of personalities on offer in this one shop is astounding. My favorite is the skeleton hand-puppet pictured bottom left below ($20); it seems a bit unorthodox without being menacing.
