A Banner Year at the Reading Room

The Bottom Line
The Bryant Park Reading Room sponsored by HSBC closed for the season last week after a record-setting season for the Word for Word series. We counted 9,970 attendees at 82 events, edging last year’s record of 9,380. A new single-event attendance record was also set on July 18 when 650 people came to see folk music legend Pete Seeger discuss his new auto-biography Pete Seeger: His Life in His Own Words.

We owe a huge thank you to HSBC, who makes this wonderful element of the park possible. They underwrite the cost of bringing in exciting authors and programs, as well as help to provide books, newspapers and magazines on a daily basis to the public at large, free of charge. Hats off to another great Reading Room and Word for Word season!
